OK to keep the extension tube?

Thank you all for the help. Given the advice here I am inclined to leave things as they are. I’m happy with the scanning results and I don’t see any distortion at the edges. Thank you all. Rich

OK to keep the extension tube?

Hi all, My current set up is a Nikon D7000 with an APS – C sensor. I use a Nikkor micro 55 mm lens with a 13 mm extension tube. This seems to work OK but I’m wondering if that extension tube is lowering the quality of my image. Without the tube I can’t get the whole negative in the frame and in...

    Spots?

It turned out that the spots were due to dust on my DSLR sensor. I just cleaned it with a cleaning kit and the spots/circles are gone. Rich

    Spots?

I will examine the negatives but I think you may be right, I scan with a ZDSLR and I bet I forgot to blow off the dust from the film holder light diffuser.... Rich

Rollei 35 TE/SE CCD Sensor Window

It appears that the sensor window is held in place by a rubber ring that just squeezes in place. Mine is dry and in pieces and I am afraid that it is going to fall apart and the pieces will be lost. Has anyone found a fix? Perhaps A tiny o-ring? I suppose the opening size would have to remain...

    Rollei 35TE "Filter Wheel"

I am in the reassembly process and I need to figure out where to set this filter wheel. It goes in front of the CCD cell and turns with aperature and shutter speed. It turns freely and its little gear meshes with one on the lens plate but no idea on how to "index" it. Thanks Rich

    Spots?

No, these are noticeable on most of the frames and the spots are in the same location on the frames. This camera sat for years before my daughter used it, I suspect these are from dust on the lens. I have since cleaned it so I removed the evidence...

    Spots?

The spots you see in this image are on every frame I believe. I’m wondering what caused this. I developed a roll of portra 400, shot by my daughter, on a Minolta point and shoot. I’ve done five or six rolls of C-41 using CineStill with no issues. Towards the middle of the roll, she opened the...

    New to DLSR Scanning

Using a 1 cm extension tube seems to do the trick. Will this degrade the performance of the lens in anyway? Thanks for the help. Rich.

    New to DLSR Scanning

Hi, OP here. I have obtained a Nikkor 55mm Micro F2.8 lens. I am disapointed to see that, at its closest focus, a 35mm image only fills about 75% of the frame. Am I missing something? Rich

    Negative Handling (Failure Thereof)

Hi, I am new to developing negatives at home (C-41). I have Cinestill kit. I have done three rolls and they all came out great. The problem is what happens next. First, I can't seem to cut the negatives without straying and destroying frames. Perhaps I just need to slow down and be more careful...

    New to DLSR Scanning

Stefan, Thank you for the encouragement. I am looking for a new film holder and a macro lens now. I am looking at this film holder: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1646769-REG/negative_supply_bfc35_35mm_basic_film_carrier.html The clamshell type I have now is PITA. Plus I can't seem to...

Negative Scan Software - newbie questions

I am doing color. I have tried manually but I take forever and it is never as good as NLP or G2P. Rich
