I had the D100, which I think was the same sensor size. My biggest issue with it when I bought it was the lack of true good wide angle lenses. Eventually a few decent options arrived so now you have choices.
I use a Darkroom Automation meter, but I gave up quickly on the fancy features. I prefer test strips over the hassle of calibrating to each paper. The meter is used in almost every printing session. It's invaluable to me for:
- adjusting print times based on small prints scaled up to a larger...
The Canoscan FS4000 came with SCSI and USB2. The USB2 interface is much slower than the SCSI interface. I'd want USB3 and at least 4000ppi 12bit for a 35mm scanner.
The film should stay put if you have it positioned correctly against the raised ridges. I don't recall ever having it come out. With two sheets in there you could end up ruining both if they come out.
It sounds like your lid is worn well enough that you can remove it easily. As long as it holds...
Your black points setting isn't fully on black. Pulling #3 into photoshop and adjusting black point with curves while watching the clipping tells me you are not grossly overexposed, but given the relative lack of black areas in the image area you are over exposing. It's hard to judge the...
It seems odd that it's happening this way on multiple rolls. I wonder if it's not winding enough to trip a sensor that the next frame has advanced? Is this factory wound film?
I tried black borders and found they don’t work for me, but of course tastes vary. I trim off the white borders and dry mount to a backer sheet of mat board. The window mat window is larger by about 1cm top, left and right and 1.5cm for the bottom to leave room for a signature.
I do not own this lens, but I do have the smaller 210mm version. If you want it for macro or close up it will work just fine. For infinity focus there are much more appropriate lenses in the 300mm focal length. But based on the 210mm version which almost covers 8x10 I suspect the 300mm version...
Pickup some residual hypo test solution and test on some test strips that were washed the same as your prints. Then you will know for sure if the prints are washed enough.
For prints that size I like single tray processing where you pour out the solutions instead of moving the papers. That...
The SCSI interface is about twice as fast as USB if I remember correctly. It's good to hear you have a SCSI solution working for Windows 10. My scanning computer with SCSI cards is over 20 years old and I've started working on getting a more modern system setup with SCSI. Is you windows 10...
That's great that you found the problem. Sorry I don't know the correct replacement part. It still might be worth contacting RH Designs to see if they would share the part number.
That’s disappointing. I wondered about it when I first saw the 10000 dpi spec and assumed it wasn’t real, but I had hoped for more than the Epsons deliver. If it could be close and do a whole roll at once it would be tempting.
If you want to send me a sharp frame with detail I’d be happy to...
The jump from 1.18 to 1.97 and similar one at f5.6 also seems suspect. If those are not typos something with the sensor seems off. I’d contact rhdesigns and see what they have to say. I bet a replacement sensor is reasonable, but if you’re lucky it just a setting.
The Durst 138s isn’t a dim...
I have the Analyser 500, so it's slightly different, but my guess is the sensor is the same. It should definitely be able to read a full range negative that needs 00 (or -1) grades. That could be a negative with a dynamic range of 1.8, or 6 stops. That should correspond to about 12 steps on a...
