For the Compound shutter repairs, Mael Bilquey at OptoMeca in France. Very professional and easy to work with. Happy with the results.
For the Camera (an Italian Barnack Leica copy - Sonne V), Oleg Khalyavin at OKVintageCamera in Slovakia. He also did a wonderful job.
great progress!
i’m not sure how your handing the cams, but if you wanna speed up the process / fix the whole batch, i really can’t recommend a vertical belt sander enough.
$60 harbor freight one
i got one of these years ago, and it’s worth its weight in gold.
Not that I know of... but with some experimentation I'm sure you could figure something out. I know of people who use the Rollex-Patent 6,5x9 back on their Plaubel's, so it shares a similar flange focal distance as the Plaubel backs.
Glenn Evans has a 6,5x9 Plaubel back for sale on his website...
Thank you!
I was keeping my eyes peeled for an older "mini" milling machine, to go alongside my 6" Atlas Clausing lathe. Fate would have it that I got word about this little mill in Chicago, and I immediately jumped on it. The impromptu trip to Chicago on Superbowl Sunday couldn't have been...
Despite it not being exactly "photography related", I drove to chicago over the weekend and bought this benchtop milling machine. I'm getting more and more into hobby machining, particularly for camera modifications & custom builds. definitely a great tool to add to my workshop :)
For anyone interested in proper Plaubel Roll Film holder techniques, please see Nokton48’s scan of Ernest Lehdian’s instructions! Also read his comment!
Very valuable information
i’d also like to add, i’ve had a similar issue with the Singer Graflok backs…. i prefer to use the metal 120...
Very much so!
I'd had some luck with duct tape spools, but i'd prefer to just buy a bulk amount of wooden spools, if i should get so lucky.
they are, indeed!
thank you for your offer! however, i am in need of the wooden dowel ones, because they have a slightly larger diameter compared to the plastic & metal ones. some of my older roll film holders work best with the wooden spool holders and they prevent frame overlap. but i never have enough of them lol
