In the old days, film choice was easy: Kodachrome 25 on one camera, and TriX 400 on the other….
Kodachrome is no longer available nor developable.
So, my question: what’s your go to film choice and why?
Do you shoot multiple cameras at a time, or just finish one roll and pick the next as...
Grainiest? Kodak TriX is pretty grainy, but amazingly it holds it together really, really well. The randomness of the exposed clumps make it a fantastic film to shoot.
By comparison, super fast B&W films with ISOs in the thousands were very grainy, often flat, and the grain was less random...
Not sure. It’s sitting on public land, across from Clinton. But it may very well be. It looks to be refreshed and upgraded quite a bit. One of the engines is actually brighter in shade than the other.
They look like showpieces. Both of them. Here’s some other pics, all hurriedly taken snaps…...
Wow. I’m super impressed. I recently saw the post of the AI color rendition of Moonrise over Hernandez. I was very offended. But on this I’m super pleased. Which shows me, I’ve got conflicting opinions on AI. A love/ hate relationship I guess. Like most tech, it’s replete with much potential for...
Why do some displayed images, whether analog or digital, presented on digital screens or printed photographic paper, matted and framed, seem to work, and others don’t?
Years ago, at a Leica exhibition, I saw a Henri Cartier Bresson photo that stopped me dead in my tracks. It was a great image...
Thank you J. It was a nice break from the rain. Seemed it rained for a week straight.
Boston must be a beautiful, grand ol’ American city, by US standards. Quite a history. I hear they have some memorable Tea Parties!
And a very interesting accent of sorts. Visited Nantucket for a friend’s...
Not necessarily. Flash output bypasses shutter speed, and is only dependent on aperture. That’s a great secret and advantage of knowing and using the guide number of flash. And the math is so simple, basic division. Guide numbers in units of meters are handy in that everyone understand an arm’s...
Well, by looking at your negatives, your flash exposure, either calculated by guide number or by auto setting on the flash head got you the best exposures of the roll. So the film, and the processing might be ok. Or at least better than all else going on here. A slower shutter speed could gain...
I’m a RB67 user. But I’m of the opinion, which I’ve heard from others I trust, that the Hassleblad is the finest camera in the world. I believe even NASA has used it. Ansel Adams too.
If you are picking one or the other, I’d imagine the H would be the most prudent choice, or rather the sure...
Anyhow, feel free to move this where it belongs, as I’m sure there has to be a section discussing lab processing, film types, and general exposure practices to get decent results from mail in processing….
I’ve decided to try out a new lab. Reasonable prices. Excellent website. Clearly describes...
KEH. Great company. And the best part, by selling there you are literally re-cycling your equipment to their clientele who for the most part loves photography.
I’ve only purchased new from B&H, and for decades now, and they’ve always been standup guys.
I’d try them also.
Good luck!
Just saw this video. Multiple flash bursts by dedicated units ….
