The fresnel faces inwards against the focusing screen so a loupe would never touch that surface. The focusing surface and the Fresnel surface are separated by the thickness of the groundglass.
Back in a more flush time, when I had my Linhof Technikardan, I had the best focusing aid IME- it was essentially a bag bellows with a frame on one side which attached to the camera and a focusing loupe on the other end. It worked great , lightweight and virtually completely light tight...
Great idea!
Way back when, I used a loupe with adjustable focus which turned out to be a really bad idea. I have an eye doctor appointment not far off and I’m gonna explain him what focusing distance I need and get a pair of magnifying eyeglasses for my eyes and that distance. Either way, I...
A while back, I bought an Intrepid 4 x 5 and assembled a system thanks in good part to excellent advice and guidance I received on these forums.
Unfortunately, I was greeted shortly after finishing assembling my system with a leukemia diagnosis so I’ve done very little with this system. My...
I would have liked a three-section leg but couldn’t find one I liked at a price I liked. I had had my eye on LS324 series but Leofoto nudged me toward the LM series because of the larger platform size. That turned out to be good advice. I had the full Intrepid on it today including lens, and...
Well not quite 6 but it feels like it… I took less time to pick out the last car I bought. I have been building the system paycheck by paycheck. I do have a full tripod set up now. Leofoto LM324CLX, Leofoto leveling base with handle, and Sunwayfoto DT-03R head. Hoping to be under the cloth on my...
The tripod tutorial was the good part.
I’m interested in the topic because I want the best digital copies of film that I can get. I can’t have a ‘real’ dark room where I am these days. There are times I wonder what it would be like to use an 8 x 10 and adhere to strictly contact printing. No...
Indeed I did. And yes, LF cameras are not the fastest way to work. But if you’re
slow- or your equipment is-you can lose shots, especially under volatile light conditions. From my previous life as a large format photographer, I learned that leveling is one of the potential biggest time sinks...
Thanks so much. Now to decide how useful that is for me. At present, I only anticipate using tripod with a 4 x 5 intrepid with their OEM Arca plate. I have a leveling base that the head will sit on. But who knows, that could change. Decisions, decisions.
This site has been a great find. I’ve gotten so much good info and guidance here. I’m going to order a DT-03 or 3R (and probably the OEM Intrepid Arca plate. Can any of the several people here who are familiar with the DT03/03R tell me what the difference(s) between the two models are? TIA
