I think I may have to give it a miss this round, but hope to come back later. Not helped by international postage going up, yet again! It's OK, but times 8 it gets spendy!
I managed to get a bit behind with my acknowledgements, with the result that my cards managed to get tangled up with other stuff. I am particularly impressed at how many cards were traditionally printed; way beyond my capacity (I've only made one wet print in my life, and that was in a...
I didn't quite realised how long it's taken me to get my cards sorted, but finally got them to the Post Office today! Many apologies; all I can say is, there's a lot going on at the mo.
I'd deliberately stayed away until it was all sorted, check today and there's 4 pages of commentary.
I have...
Tidying my desk today, as instructed by Mrs R (!) and yes, I found a tiny bit of paper in the corner, caught up amongst the 35mm film box ends with "metadata" written on them. "Plato Iowa USA / Hassy 80mm / Kentmere 200 / XTOL". Got there in the end, thanks!
I've received the same card in the (UK) post today! The mailbox like that is definitely something I associate with America (although curb-side mailboxes were also common in South Australia when I lived there). Printed on Ilford RC Multigrade and looks stunning, not a pixel in sight! Thanks @mshchem
A few days ago I received "Home for two" from James O'Gara, a very dark and sombre image that I had trouble reconciling with the title and his text on the back, all the more powerful for that!
I also received @drpsilver 's "Do the twist" last week. A beautiful portrait format print; there is something quite evocative about old tree stumps, and this lovely example stands in front of living trees, almost as a reminder of mortality.
Two more cards this week, hwv's "Einsteinhaus Caputh" a really interesting portrait format postcard of stairs, their shadows, and a white shuttert. Leading lines and contrast everywhere.
Completely different: a cyanotype made by rduraoc from a shared negative by Don_ih, much more successful...
A couple of days ago I received what appears to be the 4th species from @mfohl, mine I think is called "Bridge support" (he writes "I like structure // Bridge support, // Columbus"). an interesting play of light and shade, curves, steps and zigzags! And it answers the question, can a postcard be...
Just returned from a few days away to find an envelope with Michael Howard's "Portal 2" from Dublin Gulch, Shoshone CA. A lovely print that I'm appreciating more as I look at it, showing a small hand made cave used as living quarters by miners. I think that's my first this round. Thanks Michael!
Came back from a week away to find two Round 65 cards on my doormat: Tree Yearning from DrPSilver, amazing dead tree textures darkroom printed, with 5 really interesting stamps. Also Trees along the river from koracs, taken on a 6x12back, beautifully simple panoramic image (also darkroom printed...
