I also have a new-to-me elmar-c 90, with the rubber hood. Will I be able to use 39mm filters on this lens with the 11251 series 5.5 retaining ring described above? How? I have a bunch oh 39mm filters and I certainly would like to use at least an orange and a red filter with this lens.

An update on the issue. I filed a complaint about the damaged film to Schiphol airport. I exchanged several e-mails with the claims manager, in order to clarify the circumstances in which that happened. Here I quote two sentences of their last one, which I think could be relevant to other film...

I agree with you. However, what I think is the same problem is mentioned in this thread. No solution, though.

The extra density happens on the other roll of film, the one on top of the curl, whose emulsion is facing inward. It's the one that would be receiving faster developer speeds.

Here there is a picture of how the inner film is curled in the spiral (just trying to support my claim).
