We've been spending time in the cabin where Melanie was born, at the top of a hollow in the Pisgah Forest of far western North Carolina. Melanie's family lives below the cabin in the hollow. The cabin is 150 years old, made of hand-hewn chestnut logs. Nothing is square, no heating or AC, no road. It's a nice change from Manhattan life, when we can find the time to slip away.
I always enjoy your images. This one is so natural... communication between a mother and child... a single moment in time. Even your posed images never appear forced. To me, that's a very difficult thing to do, but you consistently do it successfully.
Utterly beautiful moment in time. I sympathise with getting away from the shackles of everyday life, and just living simply. We use our own small cabin with no running water, and just a bare modicum of necessities, every opportunity we get.
