From a workshop I took yesterday taught by Joni Sternbach at ICP. We used Kinoflow lights and they did a great job creating enough light for indoor shooting
Hi Kerik; This developer recipe is 5gms Ferrous Sulfate, 5ml glacial acetic acid 4ml grain alcohol and 100 ml distilled water with some used developer mixed in (not sure how much) and it was fixed in sodium thiosulfate (142 gms:887 ml distilled water). Development was approximately 45 seconds by inspection (tough with black tin) and we used the standard varnish formula. It certainly is tonally richer than many I've seen..especially for one using the thiosulfate fixer..maybe because we were using 'contaminated' trays from a regular B&W darkroom...but that was after full development so it shouldn't really matter.
Now if I can REPLICATE this I'll be pleased as punch myself.
Looking forward to black glass work..who do you get your glass from ?
I use Spectrum 1009S Cathedral Glass. I can't for the life of me remember where I got it. I need to figure that out cuz it's time to order more. BTW, do you know about Quinn Jacobson's website and forum? www.collodion.com
Ok Vic and Kerik, you guys have to stop this....driving me mad, must stay focused on the work I am doing now, before starting something new But Vic, these tones really are very nice, let's see more.
