Very nice photograph. Are these old steam locomotives still at work?
Sadly noEnthusiasts run them on special routes for tourists, fellow enthusiasts and of course lucky photographersMartin

This steam engine runs every day through the summer month, between Fort William and Mallaig. It is the only preserved steam engine that has a time-tabled run on a 'British Railways' mainline track. And it is the 'Hogwarts Express" from the Harry Potter films.

Thanks for all the comments. This photograph was captured on an absolutely miserable day. I had photographed the train crossing the Glenfinnan Viaduct 30 minutes earlier and raced along the narrow, winding roads to this location and set-up quickly, attempting to keep the highland drizzle from my lens. I particularly like that the train must have been full of overweight tourists as it was struggling up the incline, hence the more than usual smoke/steam production
