Thank you all for the very kind comments. My apologies, I believe my Canon scanner doesn't always handle some silver print scans all that well.
In the actual print, true black exists in the shadows of the trees along the horizon.

Very nice! When I have tried these types of shots in the past I can never decide how to frame the foreground (the patch of ground showing the line of stalks and rows) and I think you have got it just right.
