WOW. I've been a huge fan of 99% of your work so far, but this particular image just takes the cake! I have tried time and again to do something even remotely like this, but here you go and show us how it's done right! This is absolutely beautiful. I can almost hear the wind rustling the grass, and some birds off yonder singing...
Apart from the excellence of your work, your choice of paper and finishing touches are really great. You have inspired me to look at the smaller scenes all around us and not be always looking for the GRAND PICTURE. Thanks Andrew.
Thanks everyone again... Bwakel.. Vincent. As for looking at a smaller scenes, that is what I have been doing a whole lot of lately. Most of these grassy type images are forming a series that I am calling 'Layered Light' were mainly taken close to home on roadside verges, pathways, and parks that I pass in my everyday activities whether I'm walking, driving, or riding my bike, a camera is always with me. Sometimes I come back to get the image in better light, but for the most part, if something grabs me when I am passing, I spend a few minutes to work with it. I look for these small micro landscapes that most people pass by and isolate the subject in a way that does not convey a sense of known scale or place. I like to exaggerate the concept of layers or depth by using the 'funky' lens I have, and shooting it wide open. The other thing is the images have a rural look and ironic that I live in a built up suburb and not out in the sticks. So vehicles, and people are all in close proximity oblivious to what I am seeing.
