Copy shot with a digital camera of the original print -- so please no admonishments. This was the blind print exchange image I gave to Robert Teague. I felt it might be something he'd find interesting. There is a theme here, that may or may not work. Your thoughts would be welcome.
Beyond the obvious that has already been mentioned, I draw a still greater meaning from the blurred semi shape of the passing automobile. That life is ongoing, constant, fluid...while we try to extract permanence in the midst of change and movement.
Davec101, the motion blur of the dress is what makes this image for me. Thank you very much for the kind words.
Excellent points Donald. There is impermanence to living and religion is often an effort to add permanence.
John, I like it, and really chuffed to think that my show made someone go out and do something!
I also just found the CD with the instalation shots on it which I thought I had lost (freaky, seeing this and finding the disk), will get the images from the show up on my blog.
David, I was about to return your PM and ask you to have a look at this image. Since 'talking' to you I have been seeing aspects of the cross in all kinds of places -- often with a good deal of irony. I'm not a religious person, but the cross is a strong symbol which helps to make strong photographs.
