My branches form up, those I had never known before
I leave the assembly point, come forth
I am a new River, but I feel my roots still!
I just wanted to do a series about a local river. Kind of like "local color" and all that. I had wanted to do this sort of thing since the 80s, back in Chicago. I was going to take a canoe from the lake back up the Chicago river as far as I could go. A "backyards" sort of thing. Never happened. Still could, though...
The pseudo philosophical semiotics stuff is more recent - though it gives it more meaning and structure.
The east branch of the Rock River flows into Horicon Marsh, where it is joined by the north and west branches. United, if flows out of the marsh as the Rock River. This is where we are now. It joins the Mississippi at Rock Island, illinois.
