I could'nt disagree more about leaving out the pier! I think the pier makes the whole image work. It would really be quite boring and derivative without it. I also like the angular tones in the foreground water. I tried something similar over the weekend. Nice work. Shawn
Great Shot! I like the print the way it is, though I would burn in the upper left corner slighly. The print would work well with or without the pier, but either way its a stunning image!
Great, the site is up again so i can join in here and ad my compliments to a very fine piece of work. At first i was also looking at cropping the bottom but as the lines appeared in the foreground it became an important part of the picture.
The Pier as already mentioned makes the picture "perfect".
thanks to everyone for your comments and compliments. I do plan to work the image some more, by burning the darker water in the foreground a little darker, cutting a burning mask so that I can burn down to the tops of the pilings more closely, and burning the highlight at the right edge of the pilings. In the print the sky is even toned, the digital input gadget let the image down!
