Overall I'm extremely happy with this print. But there are a couple of things I'm not sure about, the main one being the dark corner in the top right. What do you think?
Ian,
I have to agree that the dark corner should go. I really like the fabric at the bottom, it keeps her grounded. Overall I'd like to see a bit more contrast but that could be scanning, monitors etc..... The composition and form is excellent.
Beautiful work but yes that corner has to go. Luckily, I dont think cropping detracts from the image at all.
Again, a really beautiful piece-congratulations! I know it's alot of work to get here.
This is lovely, Ian, and I don't have a strong opinion on the corner, but it probably would be better to crop it out, that said, it's not a distraction to my eyes.
This is a gorgeous photograph; tonally subtle and gracefully designed. Although a case can be made that the urhc is part of the unseen arc that connects to the lrhc and has its place here, the bigger issue with it is that despite not being the only dark tone in the picture, it nonetheless sets up the strongest contrast. For that reason, it would be best to crop it....it's more of a distraction than a complement to the composition.
Thanks everyone. My dilemma is that if I crop the dark corner off then the curve of her hip is lost too. I have a horrible feeling that I'm going to have to try to dodge that corner to reduce the contrast. That's something I'm not really looking forward to - but at least I'll get a tan while I do it
i think it should be left as is. the frame or mat this might be placed in would certainly cover that small corner. as artists sometimes i think we look for details that destroy. i think this is a gentle reminder that we "measure twice, cut once" when composing. MHO
I agree with everyone -- Excellent. I can scroll the image on my screen until the corner is gone and it looks good to me. I don't think you are really losing anything about the curve.
