Having fun with trying to learn how to make a decent portrait. Would like to move towards more predictable lighting but this natural light is nice.
I've always been a huge fan of that look of very old photos. This, I feel is in the right direction.

Would love to hear comments.

Reminds me of 1920s Germany. Perhaps something done by August Sander.

It feels like a daguerreotype somehow. Maybe it's the pose or the anachronistic character that Sanders pointed out. Regardless of its technical flaws, if that's what they are, I really like it. (Sorry David, they look like reel marks to me too!)

No apologies needed re the light. You've gone about it the right, minimalist way--start simple with the light nature has provided, and add the man-made stuff only as needed.

I say you're off to a very good start.
