Mormor

Mormor

Mormor = maternal grandmother in Swedish.

My grandmother has had a rough twenty years, her husband died in 1991, and she has since struggled with Parkinson's disease, taking more medication every day than I care to think about.
When I took this picture I hadn't seen her for over six years, and she is so dear to me. I love her so very much. And strangely enough, she was in a better mood than I have ever remembered her.

Thank you for having a look.

Yes, moving is the right word. Amazing portrait, Thomas. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks to you all for your wonderful responses.

My grandmother is a remarkable woman, and I'm glad you all can appreciate it.

@ Victor - I was pretty close indeed. But I love how that 35mm lens records.
@ Vincent - She lost her husband, nursed one of her daughters for 20 years (mental illness), and watched her youngest daughter pass away six years ago. There is a lot of sadness baked into her personality. Can't really blame her. It's a lot for one person to handle.
@ Alan - Mutti (short for Mutter - mother); that's how you spell it in German. Or 'Oma'...
