Metal and Glass Bowl

I was struck by the transmogrification of light passing through a simple glass bowl, with all of its peculiar imperfections.

Thank you all for your very kind comments and encouragement.

I settled on this composition after trying several different planes of focus with movements of the view camera. I found that softening the focus of the metalwork mimicked the soft shadows it cast, while the sharply focused leg acted as an anchor for the eye, as it does for the bowl itself. The distorted light is just plain cool to look at and play with.

All the best,
Daniel
