A quiet landscape with remains from old times farming activities. This picture was taken an early morning just after sunrise (summer). It depicts an old meadow for the farms livestock.
Critique on composition, technique, printing etc is most welcome!
Thank you Brendan!
The print was toned in Viradon: 1:40, 2 min if I recall correctly. The paper took on the tone quite well and I actually had to take care not to tone too much.
Personally, I find that as presented the center of interest is the open grassy space. I'd probably use either the logs alone, or crop them mostly out of the frame. There are a lot of interesting elements, but more editing in the choice of subject would have produced a stronger picture. Sometimes a place just swamps the compositional sense. It's a delicate balance between feeling a response to a subject and thinking how to portray it.
Grahamp, Thank you for your valuable and honest feedback, much appreciated! I understand and agree to what you are saying. I remember me spending a lot of time on the location trying to find a strong composition, but my artistic skill failed me again. Rather than capturing a small detail, I opted for this composition; my main aim was to capture the landscape rather than a small element of it. (I am not trying to argue on your feedback - just describe the history about the photo in a neutral tone). One again, thanks for your valuable feedback!
