In the coop

In the coop

Two of my favorite subjects, while standing in a coop full of turkeys and quail. (Translate: standing in bird sh*t.) Sarah, the girl in front, was terrified of the turkeys.

(Note: she's fourteen years old. God help her parents.)

Thanks for the responses, everyone. I photograph these girls about three times every year, more or less, as I have for the last three years. They're junior equestrienne competitors, and I do all of their PR photographs, as well as some straight-up family portraits from time to time. The art director I work with (also my drummer) likes the bizarre and out-of-place as much as I do, so I get full license to work with the girls however and wherever, which makes it a great project for me. I've photographed them fully covered in mud, sitting on hay bales, riding the light rail in Denver, you name it, we've done it. It's a really good time.

As usual, wonderful portraits Cheryl!

Excellent.

Julia Margeret Cameron did just fine with a chicken house as a studio so why not? I don't think she still had chickens in it though!
