Honestly, I have NEVER visited a website that has so many rational, accommodating people! Amazing: my opinions, good or bad, actually matter! - David Lyga
'Tried messing w/ attributes further, and nothing looks better to me than the orig. Perhaps more experience & I'll have a better set of eyes & more tricks to use.
Grahamp's comment on the Farmer's Reducer was appropriate. To that I would add: use a very dilute mixture so that you have to wait a few minutes to see the sparkle manifest. You do not want to attack the tones too quickly or you might ruin the whole picture. To TRULY have benefited from this reducer the print should have been a little darker so that the highlights, when reduced, would not then become pure white, without any detail, after reduction.
One major problem here is the conversion to digital necessary in order to post online. For that, enough is not normally said. Contrast can be lost, we never get to see the surface of the print, and there are always other problems inherent in this conversion process which rob us of the original print's virtues. We need to take into account this reality when criticizing what is posted. (Of course, my expertise is a manifestation of perfection.) ! - David Lyga
