I'm a little put off by the scan thing too. In fact there's alot of my stuff I don't think will come off well here. You have to feel tonalities, to really enjoy the picture. Like this, the direction of rock and root together is pleasing but until you really see it, ... not as satisfying. It becomes information, then the content doesn't seem to be enough.

The textures and lines here make a fine composition. There's a nice rhythm to the folds in the rock and the roots. Well done.

( I take what Alden said to mean that looking at a scan is like listening to a Mahler Symphony on AM radio. I prefer not to have to, but when I do, I'm able to ignore the lack of quality and enjoy the music. )

Thanks fellows. It still takes me quite a few sheets of paper to get to where I want to be with split grade printing but so far I've been able to produce just the look I'm after. A very fun process for me.

Alden, not a problem. I agree completely with your assessment of evaluating a photograph based on small scans.

I think it is very well done, including the scan. Very effective composition, and great tonal contrast.

Nice, Shawn. The print looks like it has lots of snap. It's amazing how tenacious they are.

Shawn I agree with you that something special is happening in this image ... I think we all realize that the above image ain't the real thing but the the image that produced this image must be really impressive...
