This is great, i love it... very original, now if only i could somehow appriciate it being a platinum print by just looking at my pc that would be even better
Narrower mirror for the upper torso reflection so that you dont have to put the flower bases on top of the other one, they look out of place to me. But I like the idea a lot....sort of disjointed body parts from a whole....
Thomas, I think you have a real talent...the hand coated paper "fits" this very well IMHO. The abstract nature of the hand coated paper, with the abstract setup of the image makes this much more than a nude shot. If this is close, but no cigar...well, can't wait until you have the cigar.
Jorge you as usual hit the nail. My problem with this is the vase area. It does not have the magic I'm hoping for.
Mike, Ive been thinking seriuosly about the 8X10 thing Even 11X 14 but my concern is capturing the moment. The 4x5 is as far as I'm confortable with for quick response shooting. The 6x8 give me the the oppertunity to work the moment with larger cameras I think I'd be to slow and to worried about how much film I'm burning rather than concentrating on the image. It would be great not to have to dup up to larger films but the extra hassle is worth the freedom.
Everyone thanks for the comments!!!
Thomas, thanks for the reply and I do understand the 'loss of freedom of movement' that LF brings. Matt (scootermm) and I were discussing an article from VC in the past couple of years of port. photographer that used an old 11x14, the shots were stunning..they were portraits of stars from the adult film industry (calm down everyone, they had their clothes on...) anyway it was that article, that made me think about your work and with the plt/pld work now, it would be a whole new level.
Wonder if you have a contact in your area that could let you use their 8x10 for a couple of shoots? Maybe burn up a box of 50 sheets to see if it really does hinder you or if it just changes the pace of your work, and the approach to the setting.
Hmmm...I am surprised by your concern about capturing the moment. From what I have seen of your work, you carefully set up your shots and they are about the entire set, not about a particular expression of the model, in fact we rarely see the model's expression. As Mike suggested, you might want to try an borrow or rent an 8x10, you might find you are not loosing as much control as you think you will.
Well, I've been thinking along these same lines for some time now. I can see it now Having to buy both Mike and Jorge airplane tickets to come out and help me convince my wife I need yet another camera set up!
