A great little five-year-old, photographed at the Phoenix workshop. She was tumbling around on the bed until this frame. Coincidentally, one of the workshop participants photographed me photographing her at just about the same moment; her shot is now displayed as my bio image at www.cheryljacobsphotography.com.
Cheryl,
You have captured the girls eyes and expression in a beautiful fashion. I agree with others that the out of focus hand is distracting, however more distracting is the arm and hand without any definition in the bottom right corner. If you think you have enough negative to crop this, I would. I would suggest the crop be just a bit below her chin allowing the white bed to hit the bottom left corner and her curls to hit the bottom right corner. All the best. doc
Thanks for the comment. However, I don't find either hand at all distracting, and I think the suggested crop would be far too severe. Cropping that tightly under her chin would give that uncomfortable impression of having a severed head, and would also place the eyes in dead center, greatly decreasing their impact. A tight crop would also completely eliminate the context of the image.
No distraction caused by the handed!! BUT I found the entire image distracting enough on the listing page to draw my immediate attention!! A fabulous image!! I'm jealous!!
Lovely little girl too!!!
