It just amazes me of all the insecurities expressed here.
Men have been posing nude since photography began! But STILL, the Victorian thinking still abounds. I for one was taught to be naked was "ugly". My family is very religious and that's where their thinking comes from. I have grown up and see male nudity a different way. After all, we were made in His image. I ain't ashamed of Him, so why would I be ashamed of male nudity? We picture Him as being clothed. How are you going to handle it when (and IF) you make it to heaven and God is naked?
If my Sunday School teachings were correct....I do NOT believe that Adam and Eve had clothes, not until they felt it was shameful. Now where would they have gotten a thought like that? BTW, do you truly believe that God cannot see us without clothes? Yet, people are ashamed still.
Both the male and female are BEAUTIFUL in their own right. I just prefer the male nude. Too much female abounds. I guess that's why some men like seeing two women "together". Got to reinforce their "straightness" I guess. I bet they were the ones that got erections in the high school showers after PE.
AND....not all male models are gay BTW.
Stepping off the podium now...................
I like the picture for the subject, the lighting and the DOF.
As a gay man myself, I find this image rather Mapplethorpian in the sense that it makes a commonly sexualized portion of the anatomy look perfectly ordinary (Mappthorpe's flowers or Weston's eggplants look far more sensual to my eyes, anyway). It surely isn't pornography because obviously this picture isn't intending to titillate the viewer.
That said, I think it's a rather nice image, though perfecting the symmetry of the torso would have been nice. But then again, the slight asymmetry makes the picture look more casual, and the symmetry that is there more "discovered," less arranged.
Reason #989 why I'm a straight male. If I saw that on a dark (but not TOO dark) night, I would have to either run or fall down laughing. Shouldn't there be a "flip side" shot too? Point, counter point, sort of thing?
