That is because photographers obsess over that sort of thing, it was ignored more than intentional. I think you'll find that some lean right and some have the buildings falling back and others forward. If I submit any of these to a camera club I'll straighten them out otherwise its off my radar unless it adversely impacts the image (for most photographers I suspect the damage has been done).
the results you get are quite spectacular JD! do you intentionally seek out lit doorways for the effect or is it coincidence? It is quite a signature - my compliments

jd, I was not suggesting that you had to have vertical verticals - just asking why. I am not one of those camera club types for sure. It is so consistent through the set that I though maybe you had a bubble level that was off or something like that.
I didn't think you had, but If I showed this to image 10 photog's I think 9 would notice that the images weren't level and I suspect 10 out 10 non-photog's wouldn't notice. I think that they may lean left and or back more than right and or forward, but there was no intent at having them lean one way or the other -- I did consciously try to frame them interestingly without regard to or in spite of convention
