This was shot at the banks of the San Francisco river in the town of Xique-Xique. I think that this image pretty much speaks for itself, but would like to hear any comments on it.

As usual, I've had problems scanning this, so there's a stich line on the left side, and the highlights are blown. This is only in the scan, not the print.

Donald, thank you very much.
It is very nice to have so many photographers whose work I admire commenting on mine. Talk about an ego-boost.

Juraj,

Thank you for the warning. I try not to sound angry when I write my comments, but I live in an area where prejudice is rampant (at least by my standards), be it social, religious or racial. For me, it is very frustrating to try to explain my photography, or my points of view, to coleagues who insist that such things as inequality do not exist, or are justifiable if they do. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I agree, but sometimes it's a bit too much. So I use APUG as a venting mechanism... voicing my disapointment in often too harsh words. The above rant is a good example.

Leon,

I agree that over exposure to such images has de-sensitized us to such things... It's a natural human reaction, I suppose, but it is, in a way, shameful of our part. Once again, I'd hate to sound as if I am pointing fingers or discrediting ourselves, maybe I'm looking for a better word than shame.

It is frustrating, though, to see how much we can justify and/ or rationalize. But on the other hand, I don't want to sound uncompromising: I merely have no solutions to the problems I point out. I hope that made anysense.

Now, hopefully someone can explain this to me: Why is it that I can write indefinately on topics such as this, but struggle painfully when writing an analysis for a sociology class? Oh, yeah, because I keep interrupting my sociology paper to check APUG....

Andre, thanks for posting this image and the comentary from you and other members. It gives us something to think about, especially in this holiday season.
