Ditching school.

Ditching school.

I photographed these guys a short time after I arrived in the town of Santo Ignácio (or Santo Inácio, I can't remember if it's spelled in old portuguese or not).

I was photographing a family who's house was near the town's church (which is the background of this shot) and the school.

I can't remember if these two were ditching school or not, but some kids from their group definately were (they insisted on my tagging along with them). The kids were taking turns being photographed, and I had no choice at this point. I shot a few of them in front of the church, and then we proceeded to jump a few fences, cut across some fields, climb some rocks (and squeeze under some others), and ended up looking outside a cave, near the top of a hill, overlooking the whole town. One of the most beautiful scenery I've ever seen (and I've seen a few). If I were a landscape kind of guy I would have had a plate full....

As always, please let me know what you think of this.

Andre if I get one great shot like this from a 36 (37) frame roll film I'm a very happy bunnie

Thanks Jay.

Its a bummer that I will have to slow down on my printing now that college will start back up. Maybe I'll rush a few prints thru today, before the madness starts (tomorrow)....

and Tony, that's my mindset as well, but in 6x6 it works out to one shot per roll, rather than one per 3 rolls (that would be too much). I just tell myself one per roll and grab a camera. Sometimes I get two or three, sometimes none at all. I guess I'm not alone

Andre You are by no means alone. Also with street shooting (maybe other subjects) I recommend pick the shot(s) you like for printing and then revisit the negs a few months later. It's amazing how some shots come to life given time and looking at them in a new light. As Jay said work hard and have fun my friend, just save a little time for yourself and your camera

Andre, I'm really amazed with your work, I love the life you capture in your shots, is the best work I have seen in a long time. In my opinion the most difficult and the best is capture the emotions rather than all the tecnical perfection you can achieve. But you are great in both sides... Pictures like yours make me try to get better picures.
