Daydreams - Hand colored Lith print

6.5x8.5" lith print on 8x10 paper. Slavich Unibrom paper, Arista lith developer 1:14. Hand colored with oils - some marshalls and some holbein.

A little brighter in person, but I'm having a very hard time matching the actual print on my screen. I think I need a new monitor!! Maybe my scanner will do better with the subtleties when the oils have cured. I taped the print to my wall and took a pic with my digi cam for now :)

Image taken with a 2x3 speed graphic with a 6x7 back and an old brass petzval purchased from another APUGer :)

Looking at the print next to the monitor, I think the digital version has too much saturation in the butterfly. I'll try to knock it down a bit later to show how it looks better. It still jumps out, but more so in the digital image than the real print. It's also too yellow and the white isn't warm enough. lol. Ugh. Matching prints is the bain of my existence! :wink:

Glad to see all the people that like this print. I like to hand color, and this is an excellent one. Just beautiful, and so much better than color film/prints. The softness really suits the subject.

It is indeed the Petzval you sold me! I adore it. It is semi-permanently attached :smile: Thanks again so much for the kind words and input, everyone! I added a very subtle shadow to the butterfly to "plant" it just a touch. I wanted to keep it a little surreal. I will update with a new pic or scan when do one. :smile:
