Beautiful, the tonal gradation of sand,low angle of light and pale color of the sky, softness of the valleys and sharpness of the edges ... all of those things contribute to what you got here - abstract , but main thing to me is having no reference like horizon to bring us back to reality...

yep, thats it Steve. The painted look is caused by the blowing sand over the dunes and the pol-filter.
