OLIVE TREES & SKY

This is a print scan from similar type neg.scan. This was produced using the split grade printing method which I sometimes employ when the humor takes me. I'm never entirely convinced that a straight grade print would'nt be just as good.

I have never seen an olive tree in real life, but this seems to give a special effect.

Vincent, great image indeed. Love the IR look. As for split grade.... I use it sparingly.... and not always following the grade 0 to grade 5 rule..... I sometimes do a G1 or 2 for the highlights depending on the negs, and then a G5 to punch in some contrast.

I've never been a fan of IR images, but I like this capture with it. Nice.

Enrapturing.
Beautifully done. This image, to me, is "reality on the edge of abstraction".
This "edge" is a wonderful place to be.

QUOTE:I wonder why I do split grade printing myself.......then why not. I have compared and on the average, have found no difference. Hit and miss for me.....

There was a thread about this last month. There was some discussion about whether split grade can differ from a single exposure at an in between grade.

I think that unless you are dodging/burning one grade differently to the other then there will be no difference.

I do think that split grade may allow you to find the correct grade quicker than experimenting with single grades though.

Beatiful image, very nice use of IR (much better than any of my efforts with it!)

Steve.
