Nice, is this a former hospital

The tree really makes this Andy.
And @mshchem yes, it is a former "mental institution".
I understand well why Andy is drawn to photograph there.
I enjoyed the experience when I joined him once. But it makes me think of some of the people who I have dealt with who were institutionalized and/or received treatment there, so for me in that way it is a sad place.

Yes, it's a very sad place. I know two people who worked there back in the 80's. Some very sad stories.

It's a beautiful site. Sad story.
I remember when I was a little kid, my grandmother, my mother and I visited my aunt who worked as a registered nurse. We caught up with my aunt on her lunch break at the state hospital in Traverse City Michigan..I met a woman who was a "mental patient" she was rehabbing. She was so happy to chat and play with my 8 year old self.
These places are important.

Nice one, great light as well. I have to get up there again, I don't live far from Riverview. I wonder how much longer the abandoned buildings will be around to photograph? Its good to make a record of what the place looks like now.

The lighting, the angle, the place ... all work together for an image with impact.
