A colony of gannet birds sleeps under the stars at Cape St. Mary's, Newfoundland. A rare night when there was a combination of clear skies, no moon, shelter from the pounding coastal winds, and the Milky Way in the right spot!
This is phenomenal! I bought a digital camera specifically to be able to take shots like this, I just need to get somewhere with dark skies to practice (mostly impossible for me in Japan).
Wow, great image! Did you use some tracking device for the sky image? Or was is not needed for the exposure of 20sec? It is really great how much detail you see in the milky way at 20sec - but it is f2, I think this is one of the important numbers here. What was the ISO chosen? Thank you for sharing this image!
