'159 Lexington'

'159 Lexington'

Used a roll of very expired Ilford Delta 400, and it turned out very grainy, but I view grain as my friend so I don't mind. Printed this on 2016-01-10 on Ilford Multigrade IV fiber matt, 6x8" size, processed in Ethol LPD (replenished). Toned in selenium. Film processed in FX-39.
Location
Spring Green, Wisconsin
Equipment Used
Leica M2 - 50mm Voigtlander Nokton
Is this print for sale?
  1. Yes
OK, I am partial to this because it coalesces with my personality: concise, efficient, stark, extremely honest without deception. I cannot say enough about how this image satisfies me and how there are no ulterior motives, objective or subjective, which might compromise the promise that this image offers. The cleanliness is intact and the lack of ambiguity is endearing. Need I say more?

Had there been an ugly reflection coming from the windows I might have digressed, but I think what I like best is the shadow rendering: enough without becoming profound and competing. - David Lyga

I just see the light and shadows, how well seen/observed it was to get this exact picture from that scene.

The thumbnail image draws me for the tones. Grain or not, they're rich. I also like the simple, clean composition, presentation

The lighting captured really sets an interesting mood. The grain is of no worry, as I think it contributes to the mystery of the situation. The composition is also spot on. The linear effect of the lines found throughout the image is starkly offset by the "offset" lines of the octagon in the center, pulls you to it. Very well done. -Doug

Thank you, folks, for your very kind comments. Interestingly I was working with a newly CLA'd M2, but that still wasn't functioning properly. This and two other frames came out OK on this roll, and the rest of them are borked. I think I'm lucky to have gotten this frame printable. Serendipity, perhaps.

Beautiful grain, beautiful end-of-day light too!
