Daydreams - Hand colored Lith print

6.5x8.5" lith print on 8x10 paper. Slavich Unibrom paper, Arista lith developer 1:14. Hand colored with oils - some marshalls and some holbein.

A little brighter in person, but I'm having a very hard time matching the actual print on my screen. I think I need a new monitor!! Maybe my scanner will do better with the subtleties when the oils have cured. I taped the print to my wall and took a pic with my digi cam for now :)

Image taken with a 2x3 speed graphic with a 6x7 back and an old brass petzval purchased from another APUGer :)

Amazing! The work you've posted has been outstanding. There aren't enough superlatives to describe the images you've shared with us. Can't wait to see more.

I keep coming back to this. So different from what I do with cameras. But so very well done.

You all are so very kind! This is my first finished hand colored photo. I played around with a couple of 5x7's on the arista art paper but found the colors a little stronger than I wanted on the absorbent paper. This worked much better and I'm really excited to continue on to the other prints I made  I'm still working on figuring everything out from lighting to printing to coloring, so your encouragements really mean a lot! Thank you!

This is really beautiful, trying to understand, did you hand paint the butterfly into this? it seems somehow to jump out, as if it were added on top of the print, almost like it is a dried REAL butterfly. really interesting.

Nope, the butterfly is there in the original image as well, although an encaustic version with a real butterfly embedded in the wax may be interesting too  I think it jumps out so much because the butterfly was sitting on a puff of batting, so it doesn't really have a shadow. Had I thought about it more, I would have tried a shot where it was flying in front of one of the "clouds". I guess I'll have to set this back up some time

So well done. It is very pleasant to look at. The butter fly does seem like it was placed in the photo do to it's boldness But the over all image is outstanding
