I like this very much - the subtle tonalities, complex geometry and mirroring of the Exit text in different fonts. I hate suggesting cropping (it seems such cliched advice) but I would consider getting rid of the thin black bit in the top left; it distracts my eye from the rest.

Michael W - Thanks for the suggestion. I did throw this one out there to see if I could benefit from some suggestions from the APUG contingent. Michael R - Thanks! I am almost a little anxious to get into the darkroom with this neg. A bit of a surprise as it was a couple of months since I shot it.

Thomas, very nice print and I love the way the highlight areas lead you round the picture. like Michael I would also crop this, but in a different way concentrating on just the highlights, but keeping your framing from both bottom and right hand side.

Shawn - thanks! Clive, I've been playing with it in myself, and think I will crop from the left and get rid of everything to the left of the upright column, and I'm debating whether to crop any off the top. To me that upper left dark sliver sort of echos the lower right hand side and frames all those highlights pretty effectively. I'm at a toss-up.

Thomas, glad you don't think I'm telling you to suck eggs and please tell me so if you think that is the case. However, I would crop off the entire dark area above. I see why you left it, on for the exit sign, but it destroys the balance of the picture. It's the highlight areas that make the composition.

I really like the image Thomas and I think a little cropping would really make it sing. Maybe a haircut and shave off the left sideburn..... Could maybe trim the right one too..... Patrick

Any way that you look at it, this is a great example of why we love B&W photography.
