Castle Crag Quarry

Castle Crag Quarry

The disused quarry on Castle Crag in Borrowdale in The Lake District has become something of an artist's interpretation of a graveyard. Walkers have set vertical large numbers of the slates that have been left lying in huge piles. The result is almost a memorial to the miners who worked here more than a hundred years ago.

Fantastic work! It has a very desolate feel to it. The darkness (and graininess) of the sky really emphasizes the whole mood of the location.

Terrific shot, great use of HIE and lith.
