Warm and yummy. How about a middle ground on the pebbles? Burned in but not eliminated entirely. Can you subjectively describe the toning color? Has a blue/red, also known as violet, component on my monitor but I am guessing that it is in fact closer to a neutral warm tone or mild sepia.
A couple of miles south of the town of Taos is the town of Rancho de Taos. The church is there. Ansel found it in 1929 and has several pictures of the whole church when it was standing alone. Now it's surrounded by small businesses and homes. The pueblo is on the north side of Taos proper.
This print, on Ilford IMGV.5K tones more magenta with dilute (1:50) Polytoner. It can be warmed to a brown using concentrated (1:4) toner. Prints I have made on Polymax Fine Art range from a hint of red to a slight creamy warm depending upon the surface (FD, CD, or GD). All this and Selenium too! Amazing stuff.
wow,
just noticed that september's image in my ansel adam's calander is the full shot of this church you metioned earlier. i much prefer the photograph you made. doc
I also very much prefer the angle and dramatic lighting of your photograph. As I recall the AA picture is a pretty straight forward setup and the lighting is rather flat. Does anyone know of a website where we can view the AA photo to compare?
