And all will be taken back - Insane Experiments in Efke 127

Not really a super experiment, I just never used Efke before... I have to say I'm not all that impressed, the emulsion seems to have pitting in it, white spots everywhere on the positive image. I'm not sure what's going on but it's in every image and would ruin a large print. Either way, from afar it's not so bad. However I also discovered my camera doesn't get to infinity which is a whole-nother problem.

The title is mostly because of the insanity it makes me have.. and the location, which was an abandoned psych center.

Small prints only because of the emulsion pitting issue I wouldn't want to offer a large print.
Location
Orangeberg, NY, USA
Equipment Used
Yashika 44, Sekonic 7xxDR light meter
Exposure
1/50 @ f4
Film & Developer
Efke 100 in Rodinal 1:50 - 11.5 minutes
Paper & Developer
Epson Scan, basic edge cropping and slight sharpening because of the off focus issue.
Is this print for sale?
  1. Yes

Great title for the location Mr.Stone, love the image too. I have used Efke in 127 and didn't have a problem with spots, but damn that stuff curls! I think the QC on Efke could be a bit patchy, though it is great to be able to get it still. I have a baby Rollei that I must dust off again. Also you have really touched off a very interesting thread!
I agree VERY curly. Its sort of ridiculous how bad it is. I have two more rolls from freestyle and I debating sending it back but the cost of shipping it... However it's $20 fr 2 rolls... No wonder 127 died at that price.I really think 127 had potential to be a great film, bigger than 35mm and yet not awkwardly big like 120 but alas it's gone now unless one of those Lomo companies ressurect it like 110 film. Wish 126 and 127 and 116 could be available. I like variety.

Stone: 127 was the 126 of its day. All sorts of Brownies and other similar cameras used it. It came in a variety of emulsions - black and white negative (Verichrome Pan), colour negative (Kodacolour) and colour slide (Ektachrome). The slides were great. They were called Super Slides, and they fit in mounts that fit in projectors for 35mm. My first camera was a Brownie Starmatic that took 127 film. It was my present for my 8th birthday . It was supplanted by the huge increase of availability of 35mm cameras, plus the introduction of 126. Your problem is that you are just too young . By the way, I like this experiment.

Thanks Matt,I don't feel so young right now but that's beyond this forum and more personal / financial stuff. But you're right, I'm young enough not to have experienced 127/126 I'm their glory... I had 35mm and 110... I MAY have had the opportunity for 126 at my local Walgreens but I was t aware of it at 12...
