And all will be taken back - Insane Experiments in Efke 127

Not really a super experiment, I just never used Efke before... I have to say I'm not all that impressed, the emulsion seems to have pitting in it, white spots everywhere on the positive image. I'm not sure what's going on but it's in every image and would ruin a large print. Either way, from afar it's not so bad. However I also discovered my camera doesn't get to infinity which is a whole-nother problem.

The title is mostly because of the insanity it makes me have.. and the location, which was an abandoned psych center.

Small prints only because of the emulsion pitting issue I wouldn't want to offer a large print.

Stone, it might be totally off topic but if you are interested, photographer Christopher Payne did a very interesting photo study of America's abandoned state mental hospitals:http://www.asylumbook.com/
Thanks, I'll check it out, I LOVE abandoned places and particialrly mental hospitals but it so hard to get permission to shoot, this one happens to appear open to the public (the outside anyway) and near where I'm working at the moment). Wish I could do it with models for my abamdoned books project.

great stuff stone !
on a different note, thanks michael ... i worked with chris back in the 90s
we documented federal / military facilities together.
its great to see his work published again ...

I'll have to look into it, why would NEW cities be empty if they have such population issues in China? Hmmm off to google I go...

it might be due to the hydro power they are working on.
places are ready to be lived in ... once they flood the villages
to create energy so they can power all the cheap labor factories for american products being made ..
gotta love it !====
michael
all the work was for jobs 20 years ago, and is the property of the army corps of engineers
i have copies of the more than 1000 page documents we made ... but they aren't really the things
that i can upload ... / share electronically ..
it was fun though

Why does it not surprise me that you were somehow involved... LOL

hi stone

i've been doing historic preservation documentary photography since about 1986, paid since 1991 ..
chris and i worked on projects together in NJ ... i met him through his neighbor, who worked with me in
an environmental firm ... and we were doing national register and historic district work
at a military installation .. we cataloged beautifully hand drawn architectural drawings and renderings of things built in around 1806 -1953
and then returned a few years later ( maybe 1 ? ) he and i and maybe 1 other person photographed nearly all 900-1000 buildings on-site ...
if you are interested in supersonics, it was the place where the x-15 rocket car was developed
there's nothing like photographing at military installations, you get to see probably the coolest stuff you'll ever get to see.

Great title for the location Mr.Stone, love the image too. I have used Efke in 127 and didn't have a problem with spots, but damn that stuff curls! I think the QC on Efke could be a bit patchy, though it is great to be able to get it still. I have a baby Rollei that I must dust off again. Also you have really touched off a very interesting thread!
