Yeah John!!! This is really good. What really got me was the shadow in doorway. This is really good...Did I mention how much I like it!!

Yes, the person/shadow was the first thing that caught my attention. I don't have any experience with this type of photography, so all I can say is that I like it - having seen John's prints in person, I know that what you see here is only a crude representation of what his images really look like.

Cool! can you add anything to that? I'm trying to determine how much of my intent equals the views' responce. These posts are in responce to a thread about art/message/approach. This and the prior image were composed and shot with a prior intent and to my mind they succeeded, Now I'd like to know if I'm crazie.

Man John, don't know...there is a great deal of symbolism in this one. From the dark, dank feeling, the 'NO SMOKING' (and I am a smoker), to the light in the 'other room', the person/shadow - who seems to be facing the door - which is kind of interesting - if it was a shadow cast by light from behind then it would be going away from the door, but instead I get the feeling it is facing....interesting to say the least. One of those I will come back to for a while.

I don't know. This seems to be in a place, like the subway, where a lot of people go by on a daily basis; and I suspect that very few actually see what they are passing. Could be that a lot of people passed by this scene and just never see the run down state - like they are in a daze while travelling.

You are very close to what I saw/thought/see/think...
It is a subway and many many thousands travel this platform each day. I'm guessing that more people will travel this subway in a week than will visit Chicago's main cultural centers in a year -- although the location isn't the issue for me.

Gee John, at this point all gazed out...but after reading your post, my impression of where everyone goes everyday...no matter where they are.....when ya gotta go, ya gotta go!! But that is probably just me

The becoming of man...from a distant indistinct future as indicated by the shadowed shape in the distant lightness to the relative ruin and disrepair of the near and more obvious.
