Denise
that is most generous of you. I'd like to see it return to Newport, and like the first year, if you need some assistance please let me know!
Sorry to hear about your family cirisis.

Thanks Don, Robert,
Louis' mom, who lived in Seal Rock, passed away last week. It's been a long year.

Denise...I'm sorry to hear about your family's loss.

Your mention of Seal Rock, though, reminded me of a couple of things:
-- That it's been a while since I was down to the beach there. Such unique geology, it's a real treat at low tide, and it's one of my favorite spots on the Oregon coast.
-- The last time I was there, I did a great hike along Sweet Creek, near Florence. Lots of waterfalls formed from horizontally fractured rock, nice sharp ledges, and a nice stream/forest walk, even though it was raining the day I did it.

I'll recommend Sweet Creek for a field trip from either Newport or Eugene...I think it's about the same distance from both. And the beach at Seal Rock is a great choice from Newport.

Hi Greg,
I just saw your post here. Thank you for the kind words.

I haven't been to Sweet Creek for a long time. You've reminded me how nice it is. I think I'll make that my next photo outing!

Hope to see you at PNW 2011, wherever it lands.

I'm from Yakima, would like to show up next year, but I know how my schedule works for these sorts of things ;-( I've got relatives in Eugene, and love Newport, have never been to Florence or for that matter Depot Bay or any of the other way interesting places on the coast of Oregon. So,,, there you have it. A vote for the Oregon coast, or a bit inland. (not much help, huh? ;-)

Welcome to the group, Grif. I think the discussion for 2011 is continuing in its own dedicated thread.

Never mind me,,, always a bit off base and out of focus. I'll go find the other thread. ;-)
