Carbon Printing Workshop -- Newport, OR...May 7,8,& 9, 2010

#1
I have decided to go for it and offer my carbon printing workshop a second time at the Newport Visual Arts Center, May 7,8,9, 2010.

The workshop in November was a blast and I think everyone gained from the experience. The price will remain the same, $250, unless there is a substantial increase in the cost of renting the room/darkroom.

I will limit the workshop to 6 people due to the size of the darkroom. This will give everyone room to play.

I will need four people to sign up by April 1, 2010 (no foolin') to give the workshop.

Please contact me at vgh7001@humboldt.edu for more info and registration forms.

Thank you!

PS -- I would appreciate any word-of-mouth/webpage/photo club advertising that members here are willing to do!

Hello Vaughn, I'd like to take the workshop with you in Newport. Don told me you might be doing it, it would be a good time for me. I'll be taking the Per and Jim workshop in February so May would be good spacing.
Regards,
Curt

That's great. Curt! It will be a good follow-up to Jim's and Per's workshop -- a little more time to fine tune some images. I will start accepting registrations at the beginning of the New Year, but consider a space reserved for you. I'll get a registration form to you via email either in the next couple of days, or between Christmas and New Year (I am getting ready to load the family up in the van for Christmas in Spokane, WA -- always a challenge!)

I am hoping Don will be able to join us also, if the timing is right for him.

I'm also interested in the workshop...I hope to get a chance to play with it a little on my own before-hand, and get down the process for making enlarged negatives.

Problem is, due to a highly variable work schedule, I won't know 100% for sure until a couple of weeks ahead of time. What's the cancellation policy?

Looking forward to the workshop...I really enjoyed the demo at WSU-Vancouver this fall.

There are two spots left in the workshop and I will definitely be in Newport that weekend to teach carbon and generally have a bunch of fun!

It was a lot of fun! We had a little scheduling SNAFU -- I thought I had rented the space for the entire day/night, but we had to quickly pack things into another room on Saturday as a party of 80 people had rented the room from 5pm to 10pm! That will not happen again!

But I had a great group of participants and I think everyone got a good idea what the process is all about. I again learned a few things myself, so it was a success all the way around.

Don't know if I will schedule one for the Fall or not -- if I don't, I'll do one in the Spring of 2011. I have a carbon workshop scheduled in Hayward, CA this coming September.

It was a great workshop. Never having done carbon before, it was a revelation.

Not only that, but Newport is really amazing when the sun is shining and there's no big wind off the ocean. A rare condition, indeed. However, I'd recommend the workshop, rain or shine.
