A weekend of free presentations on a variety of alternative photographic processes will be held the weekend of Sept. 12-13 at the Washington State University Vancouver campus.
Photographers of all skill levels are invited to participate in all or any part of the events, which will include demonstrations on photogravures, carbon printing, optically enlarged negatives, cyanotypes, bromoils and other traditional processes, as well as print sharing and a gallery exhibit.
The weekend is being organized by the Pacific Northwest members of the Analog Photography Users Group, an international Internet community of photographers dedicated to supporting and promoting traditional film-based photographic techniques (www.apug.org). This is the second annual APUG-NW gathering; the first was held last fall in Newport.
All lectures and demonstrations will be held in the Multi-Media Center (VMCC) at WSU-Vancouver, 14204 NE Salmon Creek Ave., Vancouver, WA. No advance registration is necessary, but interested photographers are asked to contact organizer Robert Brummitt at 503-614-0161 or robert8x10@hotmail.com so space requirements can be accommodated.

Good morning, Robert;

I do not know what happened either, but it is nice to see that it is working finally. Having the first one take us to the Montreal, Quebec, Canada group was quite a surprise. The next one leading to the "Invalid Social Group Discussion specified" message is much more common, but still not enjoyable. Having this one work is very nice.

Enjoy;

We need you to spread the word about the gathering. It will be fun to introduce your fellow photographers of what we are doing both on the APUG site and at our annual gatherings.

It looks like I should get more chairs! I'm getting more and more rsvp's then expected. Thats great. Last weekend, I spend sometime with one of the speakers and he shared what his demo and talk would be about. Interesting stuff!

Good morning, Robert;

Since we seem to be dealing still with a quirk of the message system, I will answer your question here.

Yes, I do intend to appear for the Second Annual Gathering of the PNWRG APUG People at WSU-Vancouver.

Now it may become necessary to develop some capability as a graphic artist in creating a suitable poster to put in the local photo stores, camera shops, camera repair facilities, and the schools with photography classes. Having the event taking place at the WSU-Vancouver campus may be a significant point for the latter category.

Enjoy;

I had a email from one person who is coming to the gathering and gave me a suggested topic, "What to do with waste materials?" He hadn't been able to find out information so I contacted several environmental services and one gave me this bit of info, DEQ Household Hazardous Waste Days http://www.deq.state.or.us/lq/sw/hhw/events.htm <http://www.deq.state.or.us/lq/sw/hhw/events.htm>
I'm going to work to get more info so that we can be more friendly to our region.

Hi Robert,
Great news about the RSVP's! One note of correction: your schedule has me talking about artisan silver gelatin printing. I'm actually talking about making your own silver gelatin emulsions.
