PX 625 mercury battery

#1
Is there anyone out there who knows or who can obtain PX mercury batteries for an older canon f1 camera. Even from a country outside of america.

I accidentally own an original F-1 which I have hardly used, but since the battery is only for the meter, I just use an external meter. There are claimed solutions which I have not tried -- some people use zinc-air hearing aid batteries which provide about the right voltage, but apparently don't last all that long (though they are fairly inexpensive). There are "Wein cells" which include some sort of voltage dropping device, and also there are or were adapters made that hold a physically smaller silver oxide cell and drop the voltage.

I am disinclined to even try to sneak in Hg cells from elsewhere, as it is technically illegal, and mercury is pretty disgusting stuff.

(Perhaps someone will chime in who has actually used one of these substitutes.)

I have two Canon F1n's and use MR 9 adaptors and Silver Oxide 675 batteries and they work perfectly give correct exposure and last much longer than PX 625 mercury ones.

I have Canon equipment that requires 1.35V. I use CR-9 mercury battery adapters..I purchased adapters from CRISCAM.com in the U.S. and Kanto Camera in Japan. Both sources have a selection of mercury battery adapters but Kanto Camera has a larger selection. Buying from Kanto Camera takes a little more time.
