Well...I've done it.

I am now officially a BFA major at the University of Arizona in Studio Arts (Photography).

Origonally I was going to go for my MFA, but felt the better route would be to spend a couple of years really working on photography so I could make my best effort to get into the MFA program.

Wish me luck folks. As of August, I will actually be....

AN ART STUDENT!

At 32....

Who woulda thunk it....

Now I just have to explain to my parents why I am not using that $52,000 BAComStd degree they paid for....

Welcome aboard and congrats on your new status as a student! I can see how that feels funny, to go back to school at 32! Enjoy the experience; I'm sure it's loads of fun and rewarding, too.

Welcome - and enjoy the youthful energy of student life.

I got my BFA at 25. I started when I was fresh out of high school. The logical thing for me was to go into teaching, so after 12 years in Japan, I came back and got a degree in education. Just retired after 21 years teaching art, and photography. I should add that I never studied photography while working on my BFA. It was all traditional art. I always thought photography was for those who were unskilled and couldn't draw. Boy, was I wrong! It ties in nicely with my printmaking major. While teaching, I planned to work on my MFA parttime, but decided against being miserable for two years with all the work, study, writing... 😆
Cheers, welcome to Photrio, and good luck with your studies!

I went off for a Ph.D. in chemistry at age 34!
