do you simply need a 'flash shoe' (no electrical contacts), or do you truly need a 'hot shoe' (flash shoe with electrical contacts to trigger flash)?

I need a magic arm that has a hot shoe in one end so I can have it hold a 2ft x 2 ft cardboard sign at the side of my RB67.
Why would you want this? Attaching a fairly large flag to a camera will just invite shake, if it's mounted on a tripod it can result in the camera leaning towards one side or the tripod toppling over, it invites the risk of bumping into it, etc.

Just put up the sign next to the camera on its own support.

That might be to much weight for a hot shoe to handle. A magic arm on a tripod, if you are using one, would be better. Also there are some reflectors made that allow wind to go through them that are more stable then a piece of cardboard. And the suggestion made earlier of a stand dedicated to your card is the best solution.

Thanks, everyone.

I just need something that fits into the cold shoe on the RB67 so I can have the cardboard held at the side of the camera.

I want to avoid adding another support to my load. I will be carrying the RB67, a telephoto, the tripod, and more solo. I could reduce the size of the cardboard.

Why not attach an aluminum arm using the tripod mount on the bottom? Much stronger.
You might try Manfrotto's website for grip equipment; there's lots of doo-dads that you might be able to adapt. https://www.manfrotto.com/global-en/lighting/stands-arms-clamps/?p=3&product_list_limit=24
A better description of your concept would also be helpful.

Ok, I will check this link out tomorrow!

Edit: this will be for a 500 CM kit now. Not the RB67.

I picked up one of those Manfrotto arms at a camera fair earlier this year.

Another suggestion is the smaller but very much cheaper Small Rig Magic Arms, I have 3 or 4 with various accessories, every so often they are on special offer. Very useful for holding Lasolite or other reflectors.

I think Manfrotto's arms are a too heavy for a camera coldshoe, especially if tension is off center. I love my Manfrotto magic arm, but would never mount it on a camera.

SmallRig have a lot of smaller magic arms, connectors and clamps.

I've pickup several different magic arms from e-bay some of which included a cold shoe mount.
IIRC mine were in the 6" to 12" range & would work for holding a small diffuser (for macro shooting) but I wouldn't try them for large cardboard flags.

A DIY support using plastic pipe to hold a fabric shade could be a fairly light option...

Probably an understatement, the Manfrotto Magic Arm with a clamp is 1.71kg,

There are at least two other companies making similar arms etc to Small Rig, all interchangeable.
