Chillin with Instax and Gus and Pete.

I posted this image I took yesterday in a response to a post. But perhaps I could share it here too, as a modest contribution to your a picture a day thread.
This is the Peace Bell. Oak Ridge Tennessee, home of the atomic bomb. The bell was cast in Japan as a token and symbol of good will and peace among both nations, and the world.
Western bells have a very different sound to these. These sound like prayer: om. It’s a beautiful sound.
Kind regards.

The whole structure that holds up the bell is fantastic and the black and white shot is perfect with the light and shadow. Like to visit someday.

I thank you for the compliment. I hope you have the opportunity to visit. It’s a very friendly city. Small. Of relative cultural diversity, rare in the rural South. A bit like Mayberry, of the TV show the Andy Griffith Show. You may have to google that. It’s an old, old show.
The sun position, and the camera, an old D2X did all the work. Normal lens on a small sensor, 35mm 1:1.8.
I’ve decided to do like Henry Cartier Bresson and not crop. Like slides of old, what I take is what it is.
Mistakes are great teachers.
Kind regards J!

Awaiting the Yucca Moths: Luna, Jupiter, and flowering Yucca plant. (iPhone 12)
As a side note:
  • Yucca plants rely exclusively on the yucca moth for pollination, as other insects cannot perform this function.

  • Moth's dependence:
The larvae feed solely on yucca seeds, making the plant their only food source.

  • Coevolution:
This interdependent relationship is a classic example of coevolution, where the two species have evolved together for survival.

talking about delicate eco-system! Hope that both the plants and moths are plenty,
