I wasn't really thinking of boats at that moment. 😄

A 16 year old one, one of the commercial fishing boats that are now gone, as that industry dwindles.

OLD category, two different photos of the S.S. Point Reyes taken in 2019. It doesn't float anymore, but it's a boat. Since 2019, the wreck has further decomposed.

Pentax 6x7, S-M-C Takumar 6x7 105mm f/2.4, Fujifilm Fujicolor Pro 400H.

Way back in the 70’s I photographed an old boat on land as I recall next to a shop of some sort. It could have been the same one but it was upright and didn’t have the piece above the front windows. I have a 16x20 print. But it was on the road to the lighthouse and the background looks like your photograph.

@doubalistar this is the one I photographed about fifty years ago. Definitely not the same one but pretty much in the same place ? I scanned the negative just now and the background does match. The one I photographed must have been replaced with the one you did? (Great minds think alike)😉

@jeffreyg the background does look very similar, but it's definitely not the same boat. The SS Point Reyes does have quite a history, though:

Now someone just needs to wake up @Maris so he can declare next this month's master of ceremonies!

Welcome to May! Here, May means it's probably not going to snow until October!

I've been in Conversation with @Maris , and he has been reminded and I've offered assistance.

Greetings all

The number of submissions is a surprise considering the truncated month and the challenge offering plenty of rhyme but no guaranteed reason.

I'll pick post #19 as the OLD selection. The four picture sequence by jeffreyg is remarkably adherent to the loopy theme and the technical quality is strikingly good; so I think.

"Some OLD ones : (1) BOATS barely AFLOAT in what might be considered a MOAT near L'Isle-sur-la- Sorgue, France negative scan of HP5 4x5, (2 and 3) part of a Dale Chihuly installation BOAT and FLOATS negative scan of DELTA 400 120 at the Fairchild Gardens Coral Gables, Florida (4) DINGHIES/ROW BOATS negative scan of Tri-x 400 120 near the docked Mayflower II at Plymouth, Massachusetts"

For the NEW selection I'll go with post #34 "Hire a boat that barely floats" by oneeyedpainter. New is hard to do, time doesn't wait, but those well seen boats hint to me of the Atget appreciation thread that continues to flourish on Photrio.

I have to make a decision and it is jeffreyg with #19 who reigns supreme for April. May the May MSA fall to his inspired care.
I'll watch from the safety of my cave to see what happens.
